Additive manufacturing (AM) is gaining ground within the industry and the market for these techniques is growing rapidly. For example, the global market for am is predicted to triple by 2025 compared to 2019. In order to boost this growth, knowledge sharing and training of production specialists, procurement officers and business developers from different sectors is essential. Nine companies and organizations from the Eindhoven high-tech manufacturing industry are therefore joining forces and have established the Additive Manufacturing Learning Community.

The nine initiating parties of the am community endorse that additive manufacturing is becoming a full-fledged production technology with a diversity of materials and printing technologies. The technology offers possibilities for very many application areas. This can make it a challenge for the (end) user to oversee all the possibilities. The Netherlands has a strong knowledge position, with more than two hundred am suppliers and a large group of production companies active in various markets. The initiators now want to share the knowledge and experience of these frontrunners to introduce more companies to the technology, start new innovation collaborations and create more business using Additive Manufacturing. The initiators are: Brainport Development, Mikrocentrum, Brabantse Ontwikkelings Maatschappij, RAI Automotive Industry NL, Brainport Industries, Smart Industry Hub Zuid, K3D-AddFab (with KWME, NTS, De Valk, Additive Industries and K3D), Amcubator (with Additive Center, Marketiger, AM-flow, DSM, AM-Solutions, Hexagon) and the fieldlab MM3D (Industrio, AMPC, TUE).

Twelve master classes are offered under the banner of the Additive Manufacturing Learning Community. These are specifically aimed at the sectors: high-tech manufacturing, healthcare, mobility, safety & security and aerospace. Interested parties learn about new business creation using am. In addition to learning about the benefits and opportunities that the technology provides, the master classes offer specific in-depth knowledge about integration of these techniques into existing production processes, high volume production capabilities, flexible supply chains, automation and spare parts production. With this knowledge, participants learn the business case opportunities at their own company.

The first two master classes for the healthcare and safety & security sectors will be held on December 8 and 9 during the 3D Delta Week.

More than 20 3D Manufacturing events will be held in the Benelux during this event week.

More information about the masterclasses can be found here.
